A man who "disappeared" after being accused of raping a minor which resulted in pregnancy four years ago was finally arrested again, yesterday.
The 27-year-old suspect was arrested at about 1.30am and charged at the Klang Sessions Court.
South Klang police chief Cha Hoong Fong said the case began on July 5, 2018 when the 23-year-old suspect, who was also the victim's boyfriend, was arrested to assist in the investigation.
He said investigations found that the suspect had raped the 16-year-old victim, whom he had gotten to know in September 2017 through the WeChat phone app.
He said the suspect had sex with the teenager in October 2017 at a hotel in Klang.
“After the investigation on the suspect was completed, the suspect was released on police bail, while the investigation paper was referred to the deputy public prosecutor and received a charge sheet according to Section 376 (1) of the Penal Code.
"However, the suspect could not be traced to the charge, so an arrest warrant was applied for from the court and the suspect was made a 'wanted person'," he said according to a Harian Metro report.
Commenting on the case, he said, at 11.30 pm, 18 June 2018, the victim went to Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) and the results of the examination found that she had an abortion on 12 June 2018.
According to him, in April 2018, the victim was pregnant and in order to hide the matter from family members, the victim got the advice of another friend on WeChat to take abortion medication.
He said, in the early morning of June 12, 2018, the victim took four pills of abortion medicine given by her friend and gave birth to a lifeless baby boy in the toilet of the house, at 9am.
"After that, the victim put the baby in plastic and threw it in a rubbish bin by the side of the road, about 2km from the house.
"At that time, the victim's family members were not at home, however on June 18, 2018, the victim complained of severe body ache to her family members and was taken to hospital for further treatment," he said.
The Criminal Investigation Division of IPD Klang Selatan opened an investigation paper under Section 376 of the Penal Code for the offense of raping a victim aged 16 and under and Section 318 of the Penal Code for the offense of concealing the birth.
