3 teenagers were swept away by rapid waters while playing in the water near the pier, 2 were rescued but 1 drowned.
Selangor State Fire and Rescue Department chief Nora Zan Khamis said the body of a 14-year-old boy who drowned was found this afternoon near the pier at the Sungai Kembang fishing port on Pulau Indah.
He pointed out that at 1:26pm, the Port Klang Fire and Rescue Department and the Water Rescue Team (PPDA) received a call to report and sent fire and rescue personnel to the scene on 28 May 2022.
"At the time of the incident, three teenagers aged 10 to 15 were paddling in a fjord with a depth of about 3 meters near the pier of Sungai Kembang Fishing Port, but they were swept away by the rapids."
"One of the teenagers was successfully rescued, the other teen was able to swim to safety by himself, but the remaining teen wasn't so fortunate. His body was found at 4pm this afternoon."
Norazan Khamis said in a statement today that the deceased was identified as Saipharis Hajimi (赛法立斯哈基米) and his body was found by fire brigade personnel at 4pm this afternoon. The body of the deceased has since been handed over to the police for follow-up.
