A 25-year-old Myanmar national, who allegedly “threw” himself onto a moving car bonnet, was charged today with acting in a manner that endangers life and the personal safety of others.

Soe Mg Mg was charged at the Klang magistrates’ court under Section 336 of the Penal Code for committing the offence at Jalan Goh Hock Huat in Klang at about 12.10pm on April 7.

Based on the charge sheet sighted by FMT, the offence is punishable with up to three months’ imprisonment, or a fine of up to RM500, or both, upon conviction.

The accused was also charged under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959 for not possessing valid travel documents to enter Malaysia.

However, the man was unable to enter a plea as the accused could not understand the charges read to him in Malay.

His lawyer, Vinesh Segar, said magistrate Amirul Asyraf Abdul Rasid then fixed June 3 for the next mention to enable the court to have the relevant interpreter to re-read the charges to Soe.

Soe was arrested after a 45-second dashcam footage went viral, showing a man sprinting towards and launching himself onto the bonnet of a car, causing the windshield to crack.

On April 14, Klang Utara district police chief Vijaya Rao Samachulu said a police report had been lodged by the driver of the car.

According to reports, the driver lodged a police report saying that an unknown man had suddenly crossed the road and flung himself onto his car’s windshield.

The man, who suffered minor injuries, left the location when told the victim’s car was equipped with a dashcam.
