Taman Sentosa is known to be a hotspot for illegal dumping, with all types of litter strewn across the area.
To restore the small town to its formal glory, the area’s assemblyperson – Mr. Prabu had brought in several excavators and nine garbage trucks to the area to clean up the trash. After a full day of clearing, the team had collected a total of 24 tons of trash.
Mr. Prabu also thanked the Klang Municipal Council and the KDEB Waste Management who had borrowed their ‘tong roros’ to move all the trash. He also revealed that the four main hotspots that were cleaned are located at Jalan Hulubalang 26 and 29, as well as Jalan Dato Dagang 24 and 31.
He also hopes that the KDEB Waste Management will be able to clear the garbage in the area on a daily basis to avoid trash piling up, making the community think that it’s alright to dump trash illegally since ‘everyone was doing it’.
“Some residents do not have their own garbage cans and would just proceed to place their trash beside the roads instead. We’ve also noticed other people dumping their old furniture here as well.”
He also clarified that most of the trash collected were residential waste and not industrial waste.
