The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) cracked down on misappropriate subsidised diesel activities with the total value of the seizure estimated at RM 74,862.50 at a petrol station in Klang, Selangor last Thursday.
KPDNHEP Enforcement Director, Azman Adam, said the raid carried out at 10pm by a team of Enforcement members from KPDNHEP Putrajaya was the result of investigation conducted over the span of several weeks.
He said that during the raid, there was a tanker truck filling diesel fuel into its storage tank at the petrol station.
"During the raid, the lorry driver had just refueled RM250 and the results of the inspection found that the lorry driver had paid RM1,000 for refueling in cash," he said in a statement, today.
The inspection also found that the two parts of the lorry's storage tank contained an estimated 5,000 liters of diesel.
KPDNHEP also confiscated diesel fuel, a tanker truck, a set of closed circuit camera (CCTV) decoders, invoices, sales and purchase receipts along with other business documents from the petrol station for investigation purposes.
Azman said, his party also detained a 60-year-old local male lorry driver to assist in the investigation.
He said the investigation paper had been opened and the investigation was made in accordance with the Control of Supplies Act, 1961 to identify the diesel distribution chain starting from the petrol station up to the buyer level.
"The ministry will also take stern action by temporarily suspending the licenses of the petrol stations involved until the investigation is completed and the case decision is finalized," he said.
