A house filled with over RM1.5 million worth of ganja and syabu was found during a narcotics raid in Klang.
Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department director Datuk Comm Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said two men were arrested in the raid conducted on Tuesday (March 15).
"The suspects, aged 31 and 47, were arrested n Kuala Langat as they were receiving the drugs.
"The police were then brought to a house in Klang where 468.8kg of suspected ganja and 10kg of suspected syabu were seized," he told a press conference at the state police contingent headquarters here on Thursday (March 17).
The drugs seized were estimated to be worth RM1.53mil, he added.
Comm Ayob said the drugs were brought in from Laos.
"It used to have two seasons but now we see it happening all year round.
"Their modus operandi showed that they smuggled the drugs in via land routes," he said.
Police believe that the group intended to sell the drugs within the Klang Valley.
Investigations showed that one of the suspects had a prior record for a criminal offence, and drug tests confirmed that both were positive for THC (tetrahydrocannabinol).
They have been remanded until March 22.
"We are continuing our investigation to identify if there are any other members or links to other syndicates.
"Based on our seizures, the ganja found was of grades two, three and four, each with a different price," said Comm Ayob.
He added that marijuana harvesting had lately become an all-year affair.
