A large pothole appeared at the start of the flyover at Jalan Kem, Port Klang. With high amount of traffic flow, the pothole endangered the safety of everyone travelling and many had turned to social media to warn the community regarding it.
After receiving the report, the authorities have repaired the road in time.
A few days ago, some frequent travellers discovered a pothole with a sunken width and depth of more than 1 foot at the entrance of the overpass between North Port and West Port (located in front of the Cargill Palm Products factory) on Jalan Kem, Port Klang.
The public was worried that since it's a busy road with high traffic flow, the possibility of a motorcycle accidentally running over the hole would cause the tire of the bike to sink in, and may potentially cause the motorcycle to lose balance and cause a car accident, which is no trivial matter.
After receiving a report from the public on Friday morning, Port Klang assemblyman Azmizam Zaman Huri immediately dispatched personnel to inspect the site and placed a warning cone in front of the pothole. At the same time, he filmed a video and uploaded it to Facebook, urging traffic users to be cautious for the time being.
Azmizam told the media afterwards that since the hole threatened road safety, he immediately reported to the Public Works Bureau and Roadcare Co., Ltd. in Klang to request for it be repaired as soon as possible.
“The Public Works Department agreed to close the road section, and after consulting the Port Klang Authority, the Roadcare team urgently started repair work at 9:00 last night. After several hours of repairs, the work was completed at 1:30 this morning and is now open. This section of the road has now been reopened.”
