Police arrested seven men suspected of being involved in a gang robbery and kidnapping a Bangladeshi yesterday.

South Klang District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Cha Hoong Fong said, they received a report at 12:57am about the incident from a complainant who is also the younger brother of the Bangladeshi man who was abducted.

According to him, when the complainant was at his house in Taman Bayu Perdana, he received a call at 8:57pm from an unknown individual who was using his brother's mobile phone.

“The unknown individual on the phone told the complainant that his brother was with them and asked for RM50,000 if he wanted the victim to be released.

“At 9:50pm, several men came to the complainant's residence with the victim.

"The suspect had beaten up the complainant along with three of his other friends who were also at the house before taking the complainant's brother away," he said in a statement today.

Mr. Cha said, acting on the information received, a team of members from the South Klang District Criminal Investigation Division led by Inspector Mohd Imran Dzulhainan managed to arrest seven men aged between 20 and 25 years around Shah Alam and Klang.

He explained that all the suspects were arrested about 30 minutes after the report made by the complainant.

“Based on the preliminary investigation, the 38-year-old victim left his residence at 3pm to work in Shah Alam.

"The victim was found left by the suspect by the roadside and was taken to Klang Hospital for treatment," he said.

He added that further investigations are still ongoing and all suspects are now remanded until February 22. - MalaysiaGazette
