According to the live stream on the 27th of December 2021 from the Menteri Besar of Selangor, YAB Amirudin Shari, the RM1,000 flood relief funds for each flood-stricken households will be distributed in the beginning of the new year starting 3 January 2022.
Flood victims will be categorized into three categories -
- Victims at public temporary relief centres (PPS - pusat pemindahan sementara)
- Victims at private temporary relief centres
- Victims at flood-stricken locations but not admitted to PPS
The flood relief funds will be distributed in stages. For victims already located at any PPS, a name list compiled by the manager of the respective PPS will be handed up and no additional documents will be needed.
Folks will not need to make any police reports unless you've lost your NRIC during the flood.
For Category 3, aided by relevant DUN representatives, some officers and volunteers will go from house-to-house at flood-stricken areas to register the information needed for the flood relief funds. Required documents as stated below -
- Identity Documents (Ex: NRIC, driving license, passport, etc)
- Verification from village chief or leader or DUN representative or community group leader or anyone of equal status
- Photos and police report no longer needed

As of today, the flood has claimed 48 lives, with 25 in Selangor alone. An estimated 40 thousand flood victims have been placed in 205 PPS (54 still active) involving 8 districts in Selangor. Selangor's New Year's Eve celebration will be changed to a praying ceremony (majlis tahlil) in respect to the flood victims who lost their lives. The process of distributing RM10,000 to the next-of-kin of victims who died due to the floods will begin tomorrow through the Selangor Bangkit initiative.
