High tides are expected to hit Kedah, Perak, Selangor and Johor for four days from November 4 - 9, 2021. Affected areas in Selangor are Klang, Kuala Langat, Sabak Bernam and Kuala Selangor.

The 11 high-risk locations in Klang are - Kg Tok Muda, Pulau Indah's Kg Sungai Pinang, Pandamaran, Taman Selat Damai at Port Klang, Kg Sungai Serdang, Kg Sementa, Sungai Keramat, Kg Perepat, North Port, Jalan Telok Gong and Pulau Ketam.

Director of the Department of Irrigation and Drainage - Dato' Ir Nor Hisham Mohd Ghazali said the phenomenon would be worse if accompanied by strong winds, big waves and heavy rain simultaneously.

He said there will be a risk of flash floods, overflowing seas and coastal floods.

"People, especially residents along the coast, are advised to be vigilant in the face of this tidal phenomenon and to keenly monitor the weather conditions," he said in a statement.

"In addition, beach visitors are advised against holding any water-related sports or leisure activities during the dates stated."

Mohd Sharizhan, acting chairman of the Klang Federal Department of Town and Country Planning (JPBD), pointed out that during this period, supervision teams from various organizations will be active in monitoring the situation. 71 flood evacuation centers will also be opened, he said to the media after visiting high-risk areas today.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department recently predicted that the northeast monsoon season will last from the 3rd of November until March 2022. It is expected that there will be as many as 6 heavy rains during the stated period that will also affect other states such as Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang and Johor.

Mohd Sarizhan said that the authorities have issued alerts to Shah Alam City Council, Klang City Council, Malaysian Public Works Department and Department of Irrigation and Drainage to ensure that the drainage system under the jurisdiction of the relevant locations are operating normally.

"In order to prevent floods, Shah Alam City Council not only rented a pumping system, but also built a temporary flood prevention pond."

Please stay safe and vigilant during this period of time.
