'SelVAX Remaja', the Selangor's vaccination campaign for teenagers kicked-start at the Multi-Purpose Hall in Pandamaran Jaya on 24 October. The campaign welcomed an overwhelming response from the public, with over 3,000 teenagers who participated in the vaccination drive. 

Selangor menteri besar Amirudin Shari said of the total, 1,235 will comprise students from maahad integrasi tahfiz Selangor; 1,181 students from Sekolah Rendah Agama Islam Integrasi; and 1,000 students from 50 maahad tahfiz in the state. An estimated amount of 3,416 students from Selangor aged between 12 and 17 will receive their vaccines during the campaign. 

Vaccines will be at other vaccination centres in Port Klang, Tanjung Sepat, Bukit Lanjan and Pandamaran, from 9am to 5pm as well, he said.

“The adolescent SelVAX programme will use the pre-registration method using voucher codes in the Selangkah application as previously implemented. To smoothen the vaccination process, schools will be given a special voucher code to enable students to self-register.

“Schools will also be provided with a vaccination consent form to be filled out by parents prior to getting the jabs,” he said in a statement on 22 October.

Amirudin said the vaccination programme is also open to all teenagers aged 12 and above. It is open even for those who do not attend school, whether they are citizens or non-citizens, and those who have yet to receive their vaccine appointment. Adult recipients who missed their second dose appointment can also attend the vaccination drives to complete their vaccinations.

On 7 October, Amirudin said the state government would provide 150,000 doses of the Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine to 75,000 students and adolescents in the state aged between 12 and 17 through cooperation with the Selangor education and health departments, and the Selangor Islamic religious department (JAIS).

Meanwhile, Amirudin said the community SelVAX programme will continue at its SelCARE clinics from 28 October and at panel clinics throughout Selangor on 1 November.
