Following the government's announcement on the start of vaccination for teenagers, some 6,187 students aged 16-17 will be receiving their vaccination appointments soon. These students come from schools and junior colleges located in the South Klang area. From 23 September to 1 October, Sekolah Agama Menengah Tinggi Sultan Hisamuddin (SAMT) that is located at Jalan Kota Raja will be a vaccination centre for these students.
More than 100 students from SMK Pulau Ketam will also receive appointments for their jabs starting from 28 September at Pulau Ketam Community Hall. Please note that this drive only includes students from the island itself and does not include dropouts or students from other districts.
Upon interview with Sin Chew Daily, the principal of Chung Hua Klang had stated that 597 of their students aged 16-17 are expected to receive their vaccination appointments starting from 27 September. The appointments will be between 9am in the morning until 1pm in the afternoon,
with the location set at SAMT as per listed above.
Principal Lim had also reminded the students to bring along their parent's letter of consent and ensure that they have MySejahtera readily downloaded in their phone. The students will also need a family member who's above 18 years old to accompany them to their vaccination appointments.
"Please also remember to mask up and bring your own sanitizers for safety precuations. All the best to the students for a smooth vaccination process."
According to the namelist, other secondary schools that may be included in the drive are Kolej Tingkatan Enam Sri Istana, SMK Sri Andalas, SMK Jalan Kebun, SMK Shahbandaraya*, SMK Kota Kemuning and SMK Kampung Jawa.
Chairman of Pulau Ketam's management committee Mr. Chua Chuan Tie has said that there will be around a hundred Pulau Ketam students who will be receiving their vaccination appointments. It is advisable for a parent or guardian to accompany the student for their appointments, but if unavailable, students are allowed to go alone as long as they bring their personal documents such as their NRIC and mobile phone.
Mr. Chua also stated that as of 17 September, Pulau Ketam has completed the second dose for the last batch of adults on the island. And hence
the island's adult population is generally considered 100% vaccinated.
