Business is valuable but life is more important at times like this. Even though the government has permitted eateries to reopen for dine-ins for those who are fully vaccinated, most of Klang's Bah Kut Teh restaurants still choose not to. Only 30% of them has reopened for dine-ins.
According to Oriental Daily, 80% of Klang's mamak stalls have reopened for dine-ins, and 90% of malay restaurants have also reopened their restaurants for dine-ins.
"When the government made the decision to let eateries reopen for dine-ins on the 20 August, more than 90% of both halal and Chinese eateries were hesitant to reopen for dine-ins. Two weeks later, the eateries has started to cautiously reopen for dine-in customers."
"Compared to other eateries, Chinese F&B owners are more worried about the virus, and 90% of coffee shops and food courts still choose to not reopen for dine-in. Most eateries still only offer takeaway."
Apart from the virus, the business owners are also worried about receiving fines and warnings from the authorities, hence they are extremely careful with their decisions. Throughout the pandemic, most F&B owners have been working on changing and evolving their business operations to suit the current situation - including selling frozen food and offering better takeaway options.
