A new outbreak of the Covid-19 virus has broken out at the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) in Klang, Selangor.
As reported by Malaysiakini earlier, at least 40 staff and 50 patients have been infected after being warded in the last three weeks.
Selangor Health director Dr Sha'ari Ngadiman confirmed Health Ministry officials were at HTAR to check on the situation this morning.
Jabatan Kesihatan Negeri Selangor (JKNS) has just released an official press release confirming the news.
"At this time, 50 healthcare workers have been infected by COVID-19 and are being treated in Sungai Buloh Hospital. The investigation held by JKNS and HTAR has yet to identify the source of infection on whether it has happened before the patient has entered the hospital or while the patient was in the 14-day incubation period."
"Even so, the situation is under control. All close contacts will be taken for swab tests and placed under Home Surveillance Order (HSO). All operations at HTAR will still continue as per usual to serve the public.
